Biography

John Schmiechen is a popular painter in oils, specializing in Philadelphia Cityscapes. His works are representational and are influenced by impressionist and post-impressionist painters. He paints with an impasto (thick paint) technique with textured brush and knife strokes. John is known for his vivid and sometimes arbitrary use of color. (His last name is pronounced SHMEE-kən.)
